Emily Rose Lumsdaine
Thanks for checking out my tattoos!
I am a vegan tattooer working in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. I have been tattooing since August 2016 and am self and community taught. While I started out tattooing without a machine (“handpoke” or “stick and poke”), I have been using machine on and off since 2018 with a concerted effort since 2021. I currently only offer machine made tattoos in black ink.
In my tattooing practice, consent, autonomy, and attention to maintaining a high level of sanitation is my priority. I tattoo all skin tones and body types, and am always refining my approach to tattooing over skin that experiences irritation, recurrent skin issues like eczema, or stretch marks. There is no reason to avoid tattoos if you live with these or other skin variations!
Prior to tattooing, I studied Biology and Environmental Studies in college and went on to get a Master’s degree in Avian Sciences, before making a career switch from wildlife rehabilitation and animal care to tattooing full time in 2019.
My favorite things to tattoo are flowers, fish, and birds. I typically reference old scientific illustrations and field guides for my tattoos.
When I’m not tattooing, I am usually hanging out with my dogs, Benny and Ollie, exploring nature for inspiration, or drawing at home surrounded by my houseplants.
